Great Vic, but entertain

Everton boss David Moyes has been handed a boost with the news that Victor Anichebe has returned to training.

The Nigerian striker has been out of the side since February due to a knee problem but has not returned to training alongside fellow striker Yakubu, who is anxious to make his own return from an Achilles problem.

Anichebe told the Liverpool Echo: "It's good to be back involved again as nine months out was just too long. I just want to play and entertain again and, with a few more games, I'm sure I'll be fine.

"Training has been good and I'm happy with my condition. I feel like I'm getting better all the time and I don't think it will be long before I'm right there."

He added: "We'll just have to see how everything goes. Mentally I feel sharp and I know that the players are behind me. I have my confidence and I'm going to work hard in training."

He's been out as long as Arteta

But why does it feel much longer for the little Spaniard??

I'd put some of the young players in before him now he's had his chance and blown it. Lazy player and gets knocked off the ball far too easy for a man his size. Like an even crapper version of Heskey

I have faith in the lad. He played some storming games last season (against the [Poor language removed], and Villa,) but he does have some attitude problems.

He's not scared to run and try and beat players, and if he stays on his feet and uses his strength I can see him doing really well. Its probably going to be when he hits 24 that he'll hit his peak IMO.

I like him, and this is good news for me.

Just been used too much as winger. He is a Yak type player.

He will come better, he has already come good.

Baring a vast almost impossible improvement I only see the kid being sold once his fitness returns . He is not good enough to warrant a first team place at Goodison . I d rather keep Vaughan and get rid of Victor

I think he has reached the limit of his usefulness. He only ever seemed effective as a sub, and then only in the UEFA cup. Seems to miss when it would be easier to score, and looks like he is prone to having a strop on a whim.

He is ok for back-up (down the pecking order), but I see him going to one of the newly promoted sides or to a Championship team.

James "can only play 3 games a season" Vaughan? That lads crocked big time IMO.

Anichebe needs a loan and regular football. I think he's got the skills in the locker to be a regular. Maybe not a striker but a support striker or even a winger (where he looked good IMO).

Good to have him back, we need options really.

Anichebe was very effective for us outwide last season, he did a good job when called upon. The Aston Villa, Stoke and Liverpool games spring to mind.

People talk about his lack of goals yet fail to recognize that seven of his nine starts where as a right winger, he only started upfront twice last season.

Which is why he wanted to go to Hull on loan, especially when he was the only striker we had and wasnt getting played there.

He's just got to be paitent. Being played in different attacking positions is only going to improve his game.

Victor has a knack for scoring garbage goals. Anytime the ball ends up bouncing in box due to tired defenders not getting a head on the ball and/or unable to clear it or cleaning up a rebound. Maybe that's why he plays well in the UEFA cup given that defenders are more mistake prone?

Wrong toccy he wasnt employed as a winger but as a support striker coming in from slighty infield . He isnt good enough .

Im pretty sure he was put out on the right wing. But unlike Ossie could actually cut inside and do something going forward.

You say Vaughan's good enough so why not Anichebe? At least he actually plays when he's fit.
