Jelavic by a distance, as well as the goals and assists, he was able to stand up and stay upright all by himself and without even sulking about having to do it... Also I actually quite liked him, thought he was a reasonably decent player in the same bracket as Naismith or Beckford.
Had quality but just a level below Everton...

How can the two even be mentioned in the same breath? Jela was brilliant for half a season, then sold a year later, while Anichebe was pathetic for a decade. Without looking, I am pretty sure Jela scored more league goals for us.

Will check now.

Jelavic 16 in 59 games
Anichebe 18 in 131

More than 100% better goals-per-game ratio than our Victor.

According to Wikipedia, Anichebe started in our first team at 17, in 2006, and has been playing in the Premier League for the past 10 seasons. In that time, he's scored a total of 24 goals. Crikey, haha.

Jelavic was never the same after he slammed his knee into that post. Strange how something so minor can have such an impact on a player. He was actually playing very well in that game too.

For the size of Anichebe he always ended up on his arse and sulk off, jela when he first came was brilliant, remember around Christmas he robbed that fellas hat in the lower Gwladys, also jelavic had a great song

Tons of subs there though, and Anichebe would often be out on the wing under Moyes.

Just looked at this;

Neither were great, but bar that incredible purple patch when he first joined us, Jelavic was really poor, especially as he showed he had 'something'. Anichebe was always used off the bench really, but he was a decent enough squad member at the time, and I'd rather him now than our existing back-up in attack.

What makes me laugh is the incredible stick Hibbert and Osman get, yet their careers have been far superior to more illustrious youth team graduates such as Anichebe, Vaughan and Rodwell.
