Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right...
Treat them as 'give way signs' as it were...at the last count 43,000 out of 154,000 on a web poll agree. I don't know who is dafter, VicRoads or the 43,000 / 25+% who actually agree.

They already have left turns on a red light. Kind of a progression on that concept.

Anything that gives cyclists a sensible headstart at junctions is a good idea imo.

A problem that will take care of itself. Someone will make a lot of money inventing cow catcher type hood mounts that'll stop pieces of cyclist and their bikes clogging up the engine gubbins.

Just takes a bit of common sense doesn't it? Suspect it will not be long however before people are removed from driving cars altogether. No bad thing.

Given that common sense isn't that common, especially when applied to road users, be they on 4 wheels, 2 wheels or 2 legs, it seem a recipe for trouble... but most of all It grates inside on a deep down level where I think that rules apply to everybody, or not at all, be they lycra wearers or tea towel wearers and to change or fail to enforce the rule just because it is not being obeyed ( by some ) is why in a small way we have all the diving and push and shove at corners
short version; thin end of the wedge.

There will always be folks who complain though, whatever happens. Those people are likely to be the ones complaining that cyclists slow them down and all that anyway (although perhaps not so angry about people that exceed speed limits?). The roundabout near me is said to have 1,500 cyclists going through it at rush hour. It makes sense to try and make that as smooth (and safe) as possible. Sadly it's an accident blackspot at the moment, and there have been a few fatalities in recent times. It does no one any harm to be a bit more aware and conscientious when using the roads.

Fair play on that, but I'm talking cyclists / traffic lights. red means stop, not stop depending what you are driving or in their case pedaling.
