I have had man love for Vellios for a while. No reason behind it other than he has an awesome name for a footballer.

Glad he is slowly coming good. Think he will start against West Brom in the week.

However, let's not be fooled, Man City will be a different beast next week.

(oh and ace cross from Hibbert)

He already scored more league goals for us than Anichebe in last 2 years! Good prospect, definetely, if Anichebe is solid player, at least Moyes said it.. :) And I have to say, Velli is my favourite football player from the time when he played first match for Everton against Aston Villa last year. ;)

`sherlock holmes and the strange case of victor anichebe`. bizarre tome, it gets more unfathomable as the plot winds on, season after season, weird.

I wish to express my man-love for Vellios too.

My reason is he's defo got ability and the women all love him due to his good looks.

Vellios proves there is no substitute for firepower

Everton's first home win of the season came in dramatic fashion as David Moyes' late substitutions proved decisive. In the absence of a natural goalscorer, Everton were drifting towards stalemate until 19-year-old Apostolos Vellios, signed from Iraklis Salonika in January, came off the bench to win it with his first goal in English football, a header that many a more heralded Everton centre-forward would have been proud of.

It was the Greece Under-21 forward's fifth appearance for Everton, all as a substitute, and his first goal for the club. Another Everton sub, Royston Drenthe, scored his first to settle it in injury time, from a flick by a third, Denis Stracqualursi.

Apostolos Vellios has dedicated his first Everton goal to the fans.

“I would like to thank the fans and this goal is for them and for my team,” Vellios told evertontv.

“I am so happy, last week I was close to scoring twice against Aston Villa and before the game every player told me I would score a header against Wigan.

“This gave me confidence and focus going into the game, but the most important thing was that we won the game...

...

“I now need to focus again because we have another big game on Wednesday,” explained Vellios.

“But every game is important for me, I now want to keep getting better and step up day by day.”

MAN-LOVE for the big Greek. Love him.

One of my female Facebook pals last night actually suggested that her affections for Vellios would extend to dropping a Cleveland Steamer onto his chest for him!!

Love Vellios. GREAT goal, although, made a bad choice when he went for the shot instead of laying it to Ossie. Oh well, love him.
