Has he completely disappeared?

It just seems to odd to me that after so much talk about the wings that here we are with Arteta and Osman. So while Pienaar seems Osman v1.1 I still would have thought we'd have someone else on the right by now. Even Neville?.. isn't he roaming the middle with Arteta on the right?

I'm still holding out hope we can get Vogel, even if he is only cover but who else do we have? Faddy?

He was replaced on the bench from Saturday by a barely fit McFadden.

Says it all really.

On that performance I would think Moyes may have dropped his need to bring in Vogel as Carsley and Neville do a similarish job.

Fernandes putting on a blue shirt again should get the juice flowing.

The futures bright, the futures blue*

We have Lescott bombing down the left as well! It worked tonight with him finally being rewarded with a goal. Also it was nice to see him, in injury time, pushed all the way up in the final third of the field.

With Arteta operating so well on the right/left and possible Mcf/Ossie/Pienaar on the other flank, we should be ok. It isn't ideal, but it is ok.

Save talk of McFadden on the flank for the Carling Cup pal.

Joleon is super super.

But Lescot is going go back to central d once Baines is healthy. So do we keep getting our width from Arteta and Baines? Osman isn't really providing width, perhaps Pienaar would do more if we get to see him (how do you bench your leading scorer!).

The thing I got from Baines last season was, he is a forward minded left-back, so his overlaps would be more effective than J-Lo's are.

Baines is almost like a wing back from when I've watched him, I am confident he will prove a big hit.

Osman wont be dropped at the moment, perhaps he may be starting to realise his potential, as like some others in our squad, he's very much a confidence player. Or perhaps Im getting too over optimistic after tonight.

That doesnt mean to say we need to have natural width on both sides, Osman can play wide when he wants to we can move them both in when needed to press the middle. Johnson at times can be like an extra winger when he chases those balls down the channels. Osman and Arteta are both then more adept at moving inside to take advantage of the holes created by the defender being dragged out of position.

Im still not sure on this Pienaar cat, he has the build of something from the shire but I think will be used when Osman hits his obligatory patch of gash form.

Wow, a well-reasoned football post from chico. Just when you start questioning his reputation he follows up with:

I think will be used when Osman hits his obligatory patch of gash form.

It's the modern way to have wingmen that cut inside as much as they get to the byline and cross. Many of the leading teams across Europe now have two holding players in the middle and two attacking players in wide areas.

carsley, neville --- osman arteta

lescott has been blamed for losing gardener, im not sure how fair this assumption is, lescott wasnt a CB last night, he was LB, so why is he expected to pick up a CB?

who were yobo, stubbs and neville marking? and where was chimbonda in that mix?

marking other players. Lescott had Gardner on his lot and ran to far towards the ball and that made Gardner free in the middle.
