Vardy penalty

How would anyone feel if we were a goal up in an important game where a victory would take us joint top of the league, and with 25 minutes remaining we were awarded a penalty and our regular penalty taker decided to let another player take it so he could equal a record of scoring in consecutive games?

I wouldn't be best pleased.

Who's arsed really. The man's in form and scoring, as long as it goes in it doesn't matter. Penalties are all about confidence anyway, doubt it would make much of a difference.

I bet the Leicester fans would have been livid had he missed and then Watford scored their goal.

I think it was bizarre.

Yes, if you are a couple in front and time is running out by all means give him the chance.

But you can bet your life if Leicester are trailing by a goal or even level in their next game Mahrez won't be handing the ball to Vardy if a penno is awarded, record breaking goal or not.

I thought it was a nice touch, to be honest Khal. Of course it's all about if it went in or not, but that's football :cool:

as a manager or spectator maybe no...as a team mate I'd think top bloke...if he scores it

Same anyway really. It give you a little boost as well when your team's behind you and all that.

It's not like he gave it to some defender who'd get a nosebleed as soon as he ran up to take it.

I'm sure Vardy can take a penalty ok.

No different to Baines letting Lukaku take one to set a record really, as long as the player can take a decent one then why not. It's not like Mahrez himself was guaranteed to score.

I'm sure it was discussed prior to the game. I'm even more sure he is practising penalties this week.

I also think it's nice to have a non-Sky club player hold records like that...like how Shearer's the Prem all-time scorer...adds colour and variety.

Honestly don't see the issue here. Vardy is on fire and was pretty confident of scoring it. I'm delighted he's still got a chance of breaking the record. Also he won the penalty from his run and Mahrez happily gave him it.

Nothing like the Mirallas farce from last season
