So my mum smokes like a chimney and has done for 50 odd years now, like proper smashes 30-40 a day, not good for a 70 year old.

Years ago I tried getting her off them by buying her e-cigarettes with nicotine but she couldn’t get a proper satisfying chug/hit out of them and ditched them after a while.

Few years on and her coughing is getting worse and it’s time to once again try and find a vape solution

Criteria is as follows:

- Taste like B&H
- Needs to give a similar level of hit as a proper chug on an actual cigarette, no weak half arsed nonsense.
- Vape device Ideally needs to be like a cigarette in terms of shape and how you consume it as shes just as addicted to the mental aspect of constantly holding and smoking a cigarette as she is the actual nicotine hit. Having some weird vape which requires coils and cotton etc is not going to cut it… it needs to be boomer proof.

Anyone got any suggestions ?

It you have one nearby, go to your local vape shop - they deal with this type of enquiry every day, and the good ones will be able to guide the choice, and provide a few options. I’d imagine your mum will end up with some sort of pod device (they don’t really do the mock ciggie style ones any more), and she’s not going to be able to avoid having to change coils altogether, but they will be of a simple plug-in kind. Can’t promise an exact match for B&H, but there will be a choice of flavour and nicotine combinations that should get her close to an authentic tobacco smoke.

I gave up cigarettes a few years ago using Iqos (Naff name, it apparently means, I quit ordinary smoking) None of the vaping coil and liquid malarkey and the same feel as a cigarette in terms of use.

No smell indoors is a big plus too.

They do different models, I have the Multi. They sell a range of “Heets” (tobacco inserts) of different tobacco tastes, these are the replacements for cigarettes which you insert in the unit.

Around half the price of a packet of cigs for 20. I’d recommend the Sienna (amber) as the ones to try for the B&H type smoke.

Have a look at heated tobacco. Heets. No tar, still uses real tobacco.

Ive ordered one of IQOS trial kits as you both suggested, £10 and then after 14 days you can either return or pay the rest. Fingers crossed it does the job.

Also ended up going to my local vape shop to check out what they had but nothing seemed as viable as the IQOS... interestingly though I did learn that they sell THC cartridges on the sly which they claim they get from the US. Not entirely sure how legit they are (the brand is legit but could be fake/knock off) but got one anyway and have taken pictures of it and sent them to my mate in Cali to check they are legitimate. Would be the absolute dream for me to quit smoking bud and replace it with vaping THC cartridges.

Invest in a Volcano vaporiser mate, they are pretty expensive (few hundred quid) but you won't regret it, it's the healthiest way to get high.
