Looks certain now that he will be the new United manager.

For me this is good news because it will now confirm whether Moyes or the players were at fault. With all due respect to David Moyes, he's not even in the same stratosphere as van Gaal, so if they underperform next year (I. E. Finish outside the top three) it will be the players at fault.

Also, it will be pure popcorn.

Think they will strengthen massively this summer, Moyes wasn't given chance to build his own team but he fubarred by spending 64 mill on 2 players who for all intents and purposes flopped. Van Gaal will take Utd back to the top unfortunately
 
They need a new lb, a new rb, two central defenders and a boss midfielder, someone like javi martinez. They could also do with a right winger and a left winger to compete in Europe for the 15/16 season.
 
They need to rebuild quite a lot, bad thing for us is they have the coin to do it in one window. Even if it takes them a year to gel, the quality they will bring in will probably take them up there then after that it will be normal service resumed with them back as title challengers.

Money makes the football cycle stop revolving and the same teams will dominate until another sugar daddy takes over another club(if ever)
 
Pretty much what Rascal says, they need a whole new back 4 and midfield. I reckon he'll get them back in the champions league but I think they will be a long long way off winning the league.
 

Our direct rivals next season will be the RS, Arsenal and Spurs imo. van Gaal has the ability to get United into the top three as is. With the right investment then perhaps a title challenge. Although I do think that the top 7 will be a lot closer to each other than they are this season with either the RS or Spurs finishing 6th or 7th. We will finish above both.

surely it depends on what goes on in the transfer market this summer before we can say definitivel;y?
 
It was the players, even Giggsy Wiggsy couldn't get anything out of them. Moyes was stitched up by 'the senior players' who knew they were to be shipped out........

They still have to replace half a dozen first team players and make them gel. They will be lucky to get into the top 6......

There's nothing to suggest that is the case just yet. We will know better in two years time. As a player though I know who I'd rather play for and listen to.
 
obvs going the experienced route and then grrooming a younger successor(giggs), completely different to what they did with moyes..not sure why fergie didnt do this in first place
