Sharpys top lip

Player Valuation: £60m
after the great 7-1 stuffing of sunderland yesterday their has been a lot of talk about are attacking options. the likes of cahill, yak, arteta an ossie have taken all the headlines but i have to give special praise to nuno. what a left back, this lad has come from third choice left back after baines an lescott to be in my eyes one of the best left back i have seen at goodison.

from the nurmberg game he has been superb,he has such a cultured left foot and attacks well. his defending is top notch as he was against chealsea last week. but yesterday was one of the best full back performance iv seen in a long time. he was easy my man of the match. on these games i carnt see baines getting back in for a while.

with out doubt players now know that their is compatition for places in the starting eleven. if you dont play to a high standard their is someone who will come in an take your place. well in mr moyes for building a realy good squad. an valente keep it up you are having a blinder mate!!!!

well said mate(y)

and baines well just have to take his chance when he gets it. cuz imo moyes cant tinker to much with the side at the mo as we are on a great run so why change it!!!

apart from europe and the cups that is!!

I have to agree with you. When he first game I thought that his positional play exposed Everton everytime someone attacked on that side of the pitch. I grew to like him when he marked Ronaldo out of the game.

Baines, whom I think will play for England, really has a battle to get his place back. Well done Nuno.

I was never the biggest fan of our Valente, but since his come back, he looks the dogs.......! I thought both FBs supported the flanks very well. Neville proved again where he is strongest, he was quality, Valente just never stopped and dealt with their best player (Carlos Edwards) well.

He did play well yesterday, albeit against a poor Sunderland side. It's always great to have plenty of in-form players in the squad to provide options and Valente is certainly doing that at the moment. I thought a few weeks ago that he would not play much of a role this season but he's taken his chance well. Just a shame we didn't have him when he was a few years younger as age isn't on his side.

Valenta is a good footballer, and I agree if you play well you should keep your place, but he doesnt close people down enough for me, it seems to be the continental way, very hard to get past but will let people cross into the box from in front of him

Most blues agree that Nuno is a good player.

But if we want to push on we have to replace him with someone like Baines, who is superb btw.

But Nuno should have a first team place with the way he is playing.

NUNO NUNO NUNO.

When ever he is fit enough to play for us he seem to perform for us, this is another solid display by him, no wonder he plays for his country, his passing and tackle is solid while he has good vision in getting early crosses in!

Shame we were unable to sign him up in his early years and he get's injure rather often, hope he stay fit and injure free more for us this season!

I gave him some stick earlier in the season but the last 3 matches he has been superb maybe the competition for places has reawoken him long may it continue

Yeah I agree with what has mostly been said. I indeed thought his Everton career was over and would only act as a sub or squad player, but his form of late has been outstanding.

This competition for places seems to have come all at once doesnt it? Not long ago we were all moaning about having a small squad, now finally we're having to drop good players!

Competition for a place could be a good things, it's improve the overall playing standard, and the pressure to perform in the match in order to keep there starting places would only improve our match day result!
