US Visa applications

When you apply for a VISA they make you submit a Police Certificate. There's are 3 classifications, mine stated No Live Trace - this means that there was/is something there, but it's a long time ago and a spent conviction.
I had to write what it was I'd done and then have it notarised, submit it to them and that was that.
The issue is if your crime involves Moral Turpitude - which covers all manner of sins. But fundamentally drugs and fraud are entirely frowned upon and will most likely result in a negative decision.
I've been through this process without an attorney and am now a Lawful Permanent Resident of the US.
Any questions throughout this process - let me know - you can send a pm if you'd prefer.

You can't use the Visa waiver if you're working, I believe.

you should check in how long it is that you have to declare any convictions. Sometimes if it is like 10 years ago, they may not be bothered. Not sure about that though mate, and can't really help you out if you haven't been honest with your employers. If you have an actual record (and if you did jail time, then you will), they will find out, IMO.

I got a Visa and it took me just under a year (applied in August, moved over here the following July). That was with a marriage visa though, and no criminal record etc.

I havent been dishonest, they didn't ask, I didnt tell them. No dishonesty there. You can use the waiver for business or pleasure for up to 90 days. Muddy Mudguard I cant PM you mate as I dont have sufficient post count but thanks for your help.

For those interested, the USA have no access to the PNC so unless you're known to Interpol don't declare and you're in. This is confirmed on a website called Unlock. It's a reformed convicts website with all the info you need.
