US Visa applications

Yes. Although ours was a bit of a nightmare process. Applications sent back for technicalities, resubmitted and subject to the whole process again. Then we moved and they insisted it had to be redone at a different Visa center. That actually happened 3 times.

The good news is my wife was legal the whole time to to the fact she had an application pending. All told, it took several applications and about 8 years to get it through (just in time to move to NZ).

As for if they will be granted. Get it all right, get all your evidence together and make sure yours is a strong application. They aren't going to take flimsy light applications. Make sure it is strong and you *shouldn't* have any problems (just the god awful wait times to deal with)

Just started work with an American software company in the Uk. Been told I'll have to travel over there in Jan and I dont apply for the Waiver thing as Ive got some very old minor convictions. Didnt declare them as I wasnt asked to be honest. Worried it'll cost my job.

This thread interests me too. You got a job lined up? Seems to be a nightmare, someone I know was born there, but moved to the UK before he was 1. He's had a hard enough time getting back in

Got a friend out there as a student... He's been "studying" for 4 years now. Not sure how long that will last though

If its related to drugs or fraud then its not so good lid.

Anyway, if its minor then play dumb and see. You could be sound like. And its an ace place to live and work.

Yes I do mate, for something very similar. I don't want to big your hopes up as you can never say like but I wouldnt be mentioning that.

Did you do any time or get a suspended sentence? If so then mention it. If not, schtum I reckon.

I got four months but only did four weeks mate. It was years ago when I was bladdered. I dont think Id be able to do the process without work finding out, or would I? I'd only be over there for four days a year, seems a bit on top.

Just keep using the visa waiver whenever you need to go.......

Just be honest and open mate, it's never what you wanna hear but always the best way.

You can't use the Visa waiver if you're working, I believe.

you should check in how long it is that you have to declare any convictions. Sometimes if it is like 10 years ago, they may not be bothered. Not sure about that though mate, and can't really help you out if you haven't been honest with your employers. If you have an actual record (and if you did jail time, then you will), they will find out, IMO.

I got a Visa and it took me just under a year (applied in August, moved over here the following July). That was with a marriage visa though, and no criminal record etc.

I'll be going through the marriage visa process in the near future as my girl is from MA, so hopefully that will be fairly straightforward.

I flew out there in June and successfully applied for an ESTA despite being a full on tit in my youth, no time served ( conditional discharge)
