Don't like the sound of that at all. Might work for Americans like Sanford and Son(Steptoe) did being a similar idea but very Americanized. Can't see it working like the office did if it's a carbon copy sort of deal.

They won't get rid of Del Boy, they'll just rename the character for the US programme. Instead of Del Boy, he will be called Brad.

It's on ABC which means chances are it won't be very good (Modern Family is good -- if slightly overrated since it wins everything over great shows like P&R). They also aren't as likely to green light something as NBC or a cable network.

One remake which people rarely mention which might be the worst of all was the Cosby version of One Foot in the Grave. Shocking.

However Office (lagging now but was great), All in the Family, Shameless (haven't watched it but heard US version is good) prove it can be done. Remake or not most shows are horrible -- I don't know that the remake success rate is any worse than the original idea success rate.
