The answer is an obvious one surely? If it's safe to do so then yes. Most planes appear to be flown by computers now anyway, just as trains are, and before that long cars will be.

The problem for me is that they are not completely autonomous and today can actually be hacked. Iran took over and landed a USA unmanned vehicle and a US university team did the same the other week. Unlike trains which must run in a certain direction and can have many electrical and mechanical off train devices to control it, a plane is slightly different....
