Just went to see this.

Not bad. Kind if a Bourne/Inception/Taken cross breed movie...set in Berlin.
My mrs didnt understand this movie, but she's a bit simple. It's a decent spy thriller with some good twists buy again, as with most modern films I see nowadays, the ending is a bit weak.

Worth a see though for sure.

Smithy's rating.
3.5 championship belts out of 5.

I laughed far too much at that

Taken

was on earlier tonight on Channel 4.

Good film. Boss in fact.

Think Gerard Butler in Law Abiding Citizen.

Think Arteta against Newcastle today. No one's getting in his way.

Channel 4.

And it was boss.

Formulaic, to say the least. Did you notice how Liam arrived at his daughter's rented flat with a baguette in his possession? No matter, we'll add the same thing again several times, just to cement that authentic Parisian flavour.

It was hardly subtle.

Action flicks aren't know for subtlety, to be fair. It's a bit like criticising Black Swan for a lack of car chases.

How'd you like that subtlety ?

Is it? There has to be at least a degree of subtlety or else it just becomes laughable. The body count should at least outnumber the baguette count - as a rule of thumb, like. The bottom line with Taken is that it's a decent enough story line but it just wasn't executed that well.

I went into it expecting a film about Liam Neeson kicking ass and taking names. Sure, he may have taken a few baguettes along the way, but meh. It was fun, and Neeson kicked arse. I got what I came for.
