Got through eventually after the 2 hour mark, then he recommended I try to claim a different type of income called new style ESA (something to do with national insurance contributions).... guess what I need to make another phone call tomorrow

I’m guessing you must have a sick note or something, unless they are making everyone apply for that now cos you are unable to work due to sickness? Probably better for you tbh as you’ll get it quicker. Just got to have made 6 months NI contributions

Everything is done online with the DWP you register your name online at Gov website they process it then they will make an appoitment to see you which will be sent to your universal credit journal don't waste your time using the phone lines

They’re not able to see people at the minute so are doing it over the phone I’m guessing. Will be a total mess. The DWP staff must be hating life right now

You can online, and it’s probably your best bet, but at one point the other day there was a 120k people long queue to get to the point to register

Again, UBI would have been much much easier
