Awesome, lid.
Let's just pretend that last match never happened and was a bad dream. Great? Great.

At least she's back. Hi Alex!

I'm gonna keep this one short 'cuz I got places to be and you don't read this jarg crap anyway.

Here's the advancement scenarios:

Win and we win the group. We'll play some 3rd place team.

Draw for us and draw in the Australia/Sweden game, and we're still group winners. If Australia wins, we're 2nd and it's a brutal cross country trip and Round of 16 match against Brazil. Avoid. At. All Costs. A Swedish win would depend on differentials.

Loss for us would still probably get us through, possibly as a 3rd place team, but there's way too many permutations to that scenario. It is still possible (though incredibly unlikely) that we could be eliminated tomorrow night, so this one is defo still worth fighting for. Especially to get a much more favorable Round of 16 draw.

Purely by rankings, this one looks like it SHOULD be a breeze, but the Super Falcons (like many women's African teams) are widely considered to be underranked by FIFA.

Due to low funding levels from their FA, they don't participate in either of the yearly invitationals, the Algarve Cup or the Cypress Cup, and play fewer friendlies than most other women's teams since they can't afford to travel very often.

Less matches, less major tournaments, less points, but not necessarily lower skill. They're the reigning African champions, after all.

Even so, they're still leaky at the back, allowing Sweden 3 goals and Australia 2. If we can sort out or long ball woes (or, heaven forbid, come up with some creativity) it will almost certainly be a victory.

But, as always with footie, you still have to play the games, because you never know what can happen. And they got a firsthand account of how to shut us down when they attended the game on Friday.

Pass the memo along to the lasses asleep at the wheel, would you?
