Unesco World Heritage status - Blame Everton

Everton are like me .. get the blame for everything!

On a serious note hope it doesn't have too much of a bad impact on the city as a whole

Tourism .. financial impact maybe?
Yeah, but the Everton stadium would have a positive impact on tourism.

I'm a history buff and absolutely prefer going to historic places, but what really ruins a city or town isn't a new stadium. Especially not one that's properly planned and designed. It's poor city planning and unhinged capitalism. 95% of the US is a perfect example. You can drive for 12 hours through 3 states and 20 towns and they all look the same. It's horrific.

They have no issue with a waste management site (sewage works), and even though Everton bent over backwards to support the status, they still fumed.

What’s more valuable to the city? A Plaque and a few tourists? Or regenerating a city, which badly needed it.

That includes the museum, echo and any other works which have restored derelict sites.

Meh, swerve it Unesco.

I doubt people are coming to Liverpool because of a label, if they want to see the old buildings and docks they are still there, most come because of the Beatles or Aintree, and others just for a night out or stag and hen parties, the only thing UNESCO have done is hold the city back for years while the likes of Manchester and Leeds build and attract business and tourism, we was restricted in what we could do, a city that should have sky scrapers dotted about the city and waterfront instead has to stay derelict, Everton even had to reduce the height of our stadium to please them

What? Couple of thousand a year come to visit because of the UNESCO status a year?

Yet a state of the art music venue, and football stadium and it brings thousands every week. It’s simple.

Love the history of our city, but let’s not kid ourselves, the derelict docks aren’t something to hold immense pride to. They’re there, we can expand our city, make it a thriving city for everyone.
