Isnt there also a law about the property they stay in?

I remember reading that they would need to have a certain salary or savings and the property must be worth at least £250k ?

I haven't heard of that one. I know if you don't have a salary of 18.5k (this is for someone with no children that you want to bring into the country) you can offset by having savings. All in all you are looking at a good 10 grand nowadays to do this over the 6 years (if you want your partner to end up as a British citizen) so that is why you need savings anyhow!

I have also been told that if you change or lose jobs part way through the process it can lead to the visa extension being denied obviously ending with your spouse being sent back. The rules were a bit less strict 10 years ago when I had to apply for my wife to be. Back then it costed somewhere in the region of 6k and half the time. My friend married my sister in law a couple of years ago and I'm glad I didn't have to go through what they are having to.
