Hi guys and girls,

A friend of mine met a girl when he was in Cambodia and subsequently that girl (a Cambodian) is interested in moving to the UK with my friend. Now, this girl also has a son who is fathered by a UK national.

My friend would like to know how easy it would be for the girl to obtain the right of settlement in the UK, if he can prove that the relationship is entirely legitimate. Would the fact that her son already holds a UK passport make it easier for her to do so?

Does your friend also want my bank account number and sort code?
 

It's an absolute ball ache, costs thousands and start to finish will take around 6 years to get over.

Is your friend earning over (I think) 26k? As if he isn't it is basically a non starter.

Edit: it is £22400, there would be an upfront payment of 2k just for the NHS costs before even taking into consideration of the (1st!) visa costs which will likely be a couple of grand also.

Is your friend a bit stupid? Not that the immigration office will see through this highly shady relationship.
 
I know someone who tried to take his Korean wife back to Ireland with him about 15 years ago. They asked for records of their emails, love letters etc over a minimum 2 year period. Only if the woman in question has skills to warrant an employment Visa is there a slim possibility.

Isnt there also a law about the property they stay in?

I remember reading that they would need to have a certain salary or savings and the property must be worth at least £250k ?
