Surprised this hasn’t been mentioned but Apple removed its Advanced Data Protection (ADP) feature in the UK due to a Government request under the Investigatory Powers Act to access encrypted iCloud data. Instead of compromising privacy, Apple binned ADP for new users and will soon ask existing users to disable it, really mental tbh.

If this had been Iran, China or North Korea I’d not have been surprised. I suspect this is more to do with potential anti terror legislation rather than Investigatory Powers Act alone, but all you will see is the net result of oversight by the Government.

Was reading about this yesterday, UKGov request was for worldwide access too iirc.
Ludicrous request that would never have been granted and has simply resulted in uk Apple customers losing a privacy feature that remains enabled everywhere else.
Will have to check if a VPN enables it again.
