Ugo Ehiogu suffers cardiac arrest

As much of a tit as Paul Merson is he was absolutely devoed on sky sports before and frankly it's out of order they showed him live on telly like that.

Shows Ugo as an utterly respected man of his profession and it is a tragedy a fit young man has left his family in this unfortunate way. I hope Spurs, the PfA etc rally round them and keep the media at bay.

I don't mind Merse. He's not afraid to laugh at himself. In terms of his reaction I'd guess Sky thought he was ok as they would have talked about Ugo beforehand but emotions can just come out at any time. Steve McClaren could barely get through an interview while Yorke, Townsend were also emotional. Southgate just left a message as I'd doubt he would be able to speak. Ugo was a fantastic defender who would have won many more caps in the current era. I'd rate him higher than Gary Cahill and look at the career he's had. To go at 44 is tragic.

I remember Ehiogu always seeming to play really well against us, especially for Villa. I hope his family find consolation in the warmth from the 'football family'. 44 is no age to go. May he rest in peace.
