You can't put music onto a device from that though can you?

I pay 10euros a month for Spotify premium and can download any playlist I want and play it for free on my phone.

Works out as cheaper for me.

Never really use my iTunes account (gramophone records are more my thing) but the knowledge that U2's new album now lurks there like somebody else's unflushed turd makes the prospect of my ever returning to it far more unlikely.

Weird how they are forcing it on you though. Not sure what reaction U2 or Apple expected, it's like they assumed more that 5% of iTunes users would have wanted it.
