Can't wait for this one. The documentary marks the 20th anniversary of Achtung Baby, U2's 1991 album, and chronicles the turning point in the band's career and the relationship as bandmates. New interviews and unseen footage from Berlin and Dublin highlight the highs and lows of producing the band's seventh album.
As a U2 fanatic, and lover of all things Rock and Roll history and documentaries, this should be a cracker.
I remember driving 20 minutes to the nearest record store to get Achtung Baby (when such things were done) the day it came out with my mate Dave who was, and still is, just as big a U2 nut as I am. We put it in for the drive back to my flat, and sat there silently listening to it unfold, without a word. Finally, Dave punctuated the silence with a simple "wow" at one point. "Yeah, wow" was all I could muster in response. We got to my flat, and went directly in to finish it. Then we listened to it again in its entirety, just sitting there in stunned rapture both because it was so good, and such a departure from what we thought U2 "was".
When I saw them in July and they opened with Even Better Than The Real Thing, The Fly, Mysterious Ways, Until The End Of The World - all from Achtung Baby, and the songs sounded as fresh and vital as the day they came out, it reminded me what a landmark, classic album it was.
