There's a reason for text speak when only so many words could be sent via text, or the phone companies would charge for two messages, but it has no place on forums where there is no charge, and no particular urgency.

Doesn't really bother me to be honest.

I dont use it myself but dont care if people do as long as i can understand what is being said.

Unless its completly indecipherable, but even if i have to take a few seconds to read it i will.

Annoys me when people say its lazy then wont take 30 seconds to to understand what is being said when if they do they will understand it.

my kids txt me all the time in it just to pi.. me off am sure!!!! i dont realy get it should be banned i dont mind abbreveasions ie lol, imho and so on but i dont like ds r d 1s da i wud ......and so on

Its causing laziness and i'd put money on it affecting gcse english results. It also makes the sender appear thick. In my opinion

That is brilliantly ironic- I had to look up to check your spelling of indecipherable- people that use text speak wouldnt even know what it meant!

Its lazy not to use the English language that most of us went to school to use. Or am I completely wrong? Is this just a new wave of language that will over take the traditional words?

Like Shakespearean words we dont ever use anymore?! We may not see words like would- wud, love, luv etc etc
