Had to laugh at that half minute in the second half of the Stoke game when the Street End in unison were shouting "turn" as we went into another one of our phases of passing the ball into whoever had his back to goal only for the receiver to play it backwards to someone else. It seemed impromptu, but whether it was or not it was certainly heart-felt.

That sort of stuff might up our passes stats (SSN reports we are 5th in that particular table) but it does nothing for us getting more attacks on goal (SSN reports we have put fewer crosses into the box from open play than any other side).

One other reported stat is that we've made fewer tackles than anyone else; hardly a surprise.

Must admit, this does drive me insane.

Particularly when we show some urgency, get the ball forward - to then stop, and slowly but surely, pass it back to the defence/keeper.

Yay. Another one of these.

C'mon mate, that's not nice is it...

The fewest tackles thing doesn't surprise me in the slightest either. Crap as our defence is I don't think McCarthy and Barry have done much in terms of protecting them all season. Was clear as day from as early as the Chelsea game that this would be the case.

Usually there is 2 ways of interpreting statistics, but you have to say for 1 club to be bottom of the stats of the positive side of the game and top of the negative aspects is quite worrying.

I could hear the frustration in the Upper Gwladys.

People all around me we're going mental at our crab / backwards football...

One bloke started shouting "drive forward lad for the love of God...".

I myself was also very animated. It was driving me round the bend.

Absolutely ridiculous.

Reminds me of 1970s international football when teams passed it around the back 4 and then back to the keeper who could pick it up back then. Then he rolled it out to a defender and the same thing happened ad infinitum, until eventually after about 3 or 4 of these plays he booted it up the pitch, which meant that about 10 minutes of the game was completely wasted. It was actually hard staying awake while this was happening.

No wonder the rule came in in the early 90s stopping the keeper from picking it up in order to speed up the game.

Now we seem to be doing the same thing with our style of play and it's as boring as hell.

i) Portugal had it down to a fine art once they got ahead of N Korea in 1966
ii) No coincidence that the rs haven't won the League since

This. Seriously, can SOMEONE please explain what happened between this season and last? That literally was the job of Barry/McCarthy. 'Your only job is to drop back into where the FB was'. WTF is going on? Literally nothing from last season is here this season.
