hi guys. I’m taking my son up to Goodison soon to watch his first game. We are travelling from Newport in South Wales to Liverpool lime street by train.

Just wondering what is the best option for getting from and back to the station before and after the match.

Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Drew

Thanks. We have roughly 2 hours before and after game.
How easy is it to get a cab straight after and where from?

Train from Lime St to Kirkdale and walk down, or as said above a bus or taxi is sound. Just give yourself a bit of time in case there is heavy traffic.

Have a good one!

Good advice here but just to zero you in it would be the underground train at Lime St. to Kirkdale and you would have to change at Moorfields or Central whereas you could actually save time by walking to either of these stations which would take 5-10 minutes.

If you are new to the city I would opt for the taxi, it's not much more than public transport,it's more direct and quicker leaving you more time to visit the store, or get a pint and something to eat near the ground where the pubs are in the main child friendly on match days.

The taxi drivers will give you good advice and it would probably be handy to see if the same guy would pick you up again after the match as they will be in big demand after the game.

Either way you and your lad have a safe trip and enjoy your visit , let us know how you get on.

Wow thanks mate. That’s probably the advice I’m looking for. Not been to Liverpool in at least 15 years. Think I’ll go with the taxi option, thank you very much for the reply.

The 19 bus will get you from the city center, and drop you off right outside the Park End at Goodison.

Black cabs are pretty expensive now in Liverpool, but convenient if you are running late.

Enjoy your day mate, and swerve the 'Scouse Pie' option at half-time.

Thanks for the info mate and the heads up on the pie lol

After the game I'd take a little 15 minute walk away from the ground and get the 17 bus back into town outside the Arkles pub ( opposite Stanley Car Park ). Or a further 10 minute walk gets you onto Breck Road where you can get the 14 or get a taxi back to the station.

Before the game like others have said get the 19 or if you want a little walk get the 14 or 17 ( little walk as on no more than 20-25 minutes )

Enjoy mate.
