I'm coming over with three of my friends for the WBA-game, the 28th february (We all fly from Finland to London). I would really appreciate some help from you locals.

We will catch a train from London to Liverpool, how expensive it normally is (friday afternoon there and saturday night back), and is it cheaper to book the tickets before hand or can we buy them right before our train leaves (as in Finland the price won't change when ever you buy the tickets).

We are also looking at the Holiday Inn Albert Dock, as it seems fairly cheap (£60 / twin room), but the most important things are, is it ok as a hotel, is easy to get to and is it close to the bars?

Hopefully you guys can help me, really looking forward of second Goodison visit!

COYB, 2-1 tonite, Lescott and Leon

Firstly, welcome mate to GOT, where men are men, and boys run from Chico (beware of his questionning regarding pizzas) :o

You will be better off booking your tickets in advance, as they do escalate as time goes by.

Albert dock is good, just a short taxi ride from all main attractions (if you are lazy like me).

There are plenty of bars at the Albert dock itself, or you can go into the city centre (Concert Square/Matthew St) where there are plenty of clubs and bars. Again, only short taxi ride away from where you plan to stay.

Thanks guys, am I right that it is as cheap as £35,50 return, not bad!

Kingjoleon, most likely we will be very lazy and drunk, so taxi is the easiest way around.

Tickets paid in advance for the 10:07 service from London Euston to Liverpool Lime Street costs £23.50 and would arrive in Liverpool at 12:15. Otherwise it is £45.50 for advance singles for journeys departing at 09:07 & 10:07 arriving here at 10:15 & 11:15 respectively.

The cheapest same day return is £66.40 and also needs to paid in advance.
