Wondering if anyone can help me, I'm going to Amsterdam but going via Brussels on 12th Dec.

I'm flying in to Brussels Charleroi Airport and need to get to Amsterdam, anyone know the cheapest way? I know you can get a train but it comes up with all different names such as Nord/Zuid/Midi and I have no idea what all these are, can I get a train from the airport or do I have to travel to Brussels central first and then get a train and does anyone know how easy it is to get to central station? Sorry for all the questions, next time I think I'll just get a direct flight for double the price to save all the hassle!! Thanks to anyone who can help!

It's easy mate. there the three central stations

Nord - north
Zuid - South
Midi - middle

There only a few minutes from each other It's easy to get to Centraal and the trains to amsterdam are every 30-60 mins. No passport control or anything like that. It's like going to scotland. Takes about an hour and a half if I remember right.

When you get off the plane mate, open up the big bag of sawdust that EVERY SANE PERSON in the world travels with...... throw some sawdust up in the air and just follow the path it makes as it settles on the ground.

If you need to know anything else mate don't hesitate to ask.

I don't want to stay in Brussels as I'm going to a concert in Amsterdam so ideally need to travel there haha.

I've been looking for a place to stay in Amsterdam but i don't have a clue what is good and what is terrible or any of the attractions, just booked the flight on a whim

Looked at staying in a hostel too but the "nice" ones were all booked

I'm staying in Heart of Amsterdam one, which seems to be in the red light district...some of the Everton girls who are going to see Swedish House Mafia also are in one called Van Gogh which looks pretty decent.

Do I have to travel to central to get to Amsterdam was what I was wanting to know really, or can I travel from the airport?

The train from the airport will probs go through Central anyway mate. It doesn't really take that long either.

So that is Brussels-Zuid? Sorry for all the questions, but find it quite confusing as most of their travel websites are in other languages and don't translate that well so just worrying that when I get there I won't have a scooby.

Mate, once you get there it's dead simple. You won't be confused at all and you will know exactly where to go and how to get there. Centraal is where you catch most of the big connections if I remember right. I'd been up all night in amsterdam on the way there, and up all night in the white party on the way back so my memory of whats what is sketchy. But we found our way round sound so it's nothing you won't get your head round.

I was there earlier this year, and the confusing thing is they call the main station midi/zuid. That's the one to get if you want to be in the centre of Brussels.
