Bad news for us as Gibson might go and start playing internationals again.

Few strange names in the hat so far. O'Leary, O'neill and a few others throwing their names in the hat.

Dietmar Hammann in temporary charge.

He definitely lost his way, but is still a legend of the game, got them to a major tournament and was within a handball decision of going to another. The right call and should have come sooner, but doesn't deserve to have his overall reputation ruined in any way

Whoever gets that job they'll have the same crop of poor players to choose from. This is the worst Irish team I can remember....though I refuse to believe there's no better GK they can get than Ford. Dear me he plays like he's got one hand. What's wrong with Westwood?

There's the basis of a decent side there IMO. Not like they need to have Keith Andews and Glenn Whelan pulling the strings.

Gibson might go back into the fold, I suppose, and they could start playing through midfield more. Not sure who else they have to turn to though' and you have to ask how the likes of Pilkington, Whelan and Dunne are part of any answer!

It's the worst I can remember as well

It's not like they were great in 88-94 either really. They just got the rub of the green and put enough effort in to overcome their deficiancies

Got a few options up top. The lids from hull and Norwich on the wings have got enough about them. CB and LB they're a bit short but they can still muster a PL defence in the main. Shouldn't be anywhere near as bleak as they've been.
