I think our top priority should have been a centre back, Aaron Lennon is the literal furthest thing from a centre back I can think of.

With Eto'o gone I guess we needed a winger, but with Mirallas, Oviedo, McGeady, and the fact that we seem to be more effective with a 4-3-3 that doesn't require true wingers, I would have focused on getting in cover for the back 4 first.

I was less negative on Eto'o than most, thought he looked good at times and was capable of unlocking the defense which is really where we struggled. Aaron Lennon is not at all that type of player, he's a poor man's Deulofe

Goalkeeper ?

Based on what evidence?
Moyes did better than Martinez is doing now, on a smaller budget. He did so consistently- top seven was more likely than not under Moyes. Martinez may become a good manager eventually, but he is out of his depth at Everton- the challenge of spreading BK's thin finances over a top ten side is too much for him, so it seems. Whatever you think of Moyes- dour tactics, misuse of strikers etc etc, he is the real deal, and his work at Everton is proof of that. I want him back, before the hike in TV money becomes absorbed fully into the inflation of wages and transfer fees. I want to see what he can do for Everton, with this temporarily-a-little-bit-more-level financial playing field. Our next chance of making the step up to the top four may be when BK goes down Goodison Road in a box.

But that is a general "Moyes is a better manager than Martinez". I personally don't agree, think they each have their strengths and weaknesses and don't think it quite a straightforward as one is better than the other in all circumstances.

Anyhow that wasn't my question - the specific topic was Eto'o and him being "wasted" and you thought Moyes would have got him to perform better. I just don't see why he would have and was interested in why you do. Moyes was pretty poor in general with strikers and a double training session after a heavy defeat would seem something he would do. That is the situation that Eto'o has just walked out of in his new club so think Moyes would have had even more offfield problems with Eto'o than Martinez did.
