Even though most rumours/sourced early warnings eventually come to nothing because they were either groundless (rumours) or negotiations don't work out (early warnings), it still adds a bit of interest to the day. The demise of the Demba Ba thing, and no movement on any of the other rumours has left me a bit bereft. The old LCAB transfer thread did allow people to chuck in rumours of varying degrees of ridiculousness, and at least give us something to think and banter about. (I appreciate that this was one of the causes of the thread being closed, and I don't want to reopen that old debate again).

Not being very creative, I'm hereby launching an appeal for somebody to completely make up a transfer rumour and post it so we can all have a natter. If we have any journalists amongst us at the moment, then I think you would be an ideal choice to portray total fiction as reliable fact (you already having the creative skills and lying practice, especially if you specialise in sports or political journalism).

Fingers crossed for something to pin my hopes (however false) on soon.

I just tried to start some transfer with the Eto'o thread. Albeit I put it in the wrong context, probably wrong forum and was quite rightly negged...Oops! Still, it'll be interested to see who we are linked with next, even if it is nothing more of a barometer of our pulling power.

liverpool-and-tottenham-linked-with-river-plates-erik-lamela, Saw it on Goal.com!

This must mean that at one time or another Moyes has probably scouted, been linked with or met this Erik Lamela!
Surely our next signing!

That's the spirit !

Personally, I think we can agree a fee for Modric at about fifteen quid, but negotiations will founder when we refuse to buy Bermuda for the agent, and Buckingham Palace for his granny.

OK, here goes. Now this is not something I'm making up, but nor is it something I particularly believe in either, so I may as well, for sake of "banter", and in the safety of knowing this thread will be taken with a pinch of salt by all who read it, let you in on the 1 rumour I have been privy to thus far.

A woman who my brother works with (we're both blues, she isn't) has said that Arteta will be gone by the start of the new season. When my brother, unconvinced, asked her to reveal the source of this so called "knowledge", she refused, stating confidentiality, but remains smug and self assured in her conviction that he is not gonna be an Everton player by August.

This was before the article in the Star, and as i said, my brother and I are both sceptical to say the least, but if it this is the place for unsubstantiated rumours, it's as good a place as any to post it. It's not like I would be willing to waste mine or anybody else’s time starting a new thread about it, and I didn't want to add it to any other unrelated thread either, so there we have it. Make of it what you will

Van Der Sar. Apparently regrets deciding to hang up his boots coz they look really silly on the wall and his mrs would much prefer a nice oil painting over the mantle piece.
May be willing to sit on the bench as cover for Howard if we pay the road tax on his new motor home.

I think an Eto'o rumour has the best chance. Hes said he wants to play in the prem, probably wouldnt cost that much, but we would never be able to offer nearly enough in wages!

I can see making one or two big name signings this season, Moyes rejected Villa so that he can build something special here.

Its up to Kenwright to reward him for his loyalty to both the club and the fans.
