After siiting down for my sunday roast with my other halfs pompey mad family , and talking about big vic. The heated chat soon turned to would i swoop the last 10 of evetons history for pompeys ? Us we finised 4 once i said!! and been to fa cup final and our euorpe games , against pompey up and down too long to list , but the
things that stood out is have success we have not!!!! im not saying would you be a pompey supporter im saying would you swoop history? i would never admit it too them but just too taste a bit of silver ware and the big drama that go on down they, when we talk about is we may be looking at him ! Are we a dull 4/8 place team not willing too take a gamble i found my self thinking

I think if you asked any sane Birmingham or Pompey fan they'd happily trade their trophy for a place in the premier league.

I see your reasoning, but fact is that after those 10 years one of those clubs is in financial crap and in the Championship, whilst one is in financial crap but in the Premier League.

So I'd take our 10 years without hesitation.

In a word. NO.

And to add to the debate - you would be gambling with the very EXISTENCE of Everton Football Club.

Equity and Loans by Everton FC should really ONLY be used to build up stadium capacity and club revenue generating infrastructure.

Not for stupid short term player purchasing and liabilities.

The club needs (needed) to put in place revenue generating capacity to make these purchases. That must come first.

A house built on granite. Not on sand.

Oh and to your Portsmouth people. Tell them to enjoy the Championship. The fact that they're still in Fratton Park says much as does where they are now.

And as for any dreams that they'll go on some splurge as a short cut back to the Premier League they might want to consider incoming rule changes:

League agrees to new Uefa financial regulations

The Football League says its clubs have agreed in principle to adopt Uefa's financial fair play system.

Uefa has introduced the rules to try to make sure that clubs balance their books and break even.

The 72 league clubs, faced with increased levels of debt, agreed "in principle" to the regulations at their annual meeting.

The Football League clubs voted in favour of the new measures at the meeting in Cyprus following a presentation by Andrea Traverso, Uefa's head of club licensing and financial fair play.

Debt in Football League clubs now totals approximately £700million, Clarke told BBC Sport's Paul Fletcher earlier this week, "and more than 80% of this is in the Championship".

The Championship clubs agreed to work towards the new regulations being "developed and approved by the beginning of the 2012/13 season".

League One clubs have also agree to introduce the Salary Cost Management Protocol (SCMP) from next season, where teams will only be allowed to spend a fixed proportion of their total turnover on player wages.

The SCMP already operates in League Two at the 60% threshold, which will be reduced to 55% from the summer.

That's why.

Portsmouth still haven't left 20,000 Fratton Park. Quite how they're going to raise money to go on some splurge of cash - I'd love to know. They may go spend this £15million you mention. Then be back precisely where they were - BANKRUPT - inside of three years.

Its fantasy to think Portsmouth have this money. TV revenues in the Championship are down.

Wages. A liability they'll struggle to meet after the above comes into effect purely because their turnover is not high enough. That was what got them into the mess the last time.

I would trade our entire trophy cabinet if we had John Pompey switch allegiance to us:

I wonder what an average work day at the office is like for this guy.
