I've got to stop posting in every thread....

Nice choice by yourself bro

2 songs for 2 very different reasons

This, due to a bad break up

And another one on a more tragic note, my friends band in SD did a song called Father like Son. It was about him following his dad's ways of mass heavy boozing. Sadly he later died of it a year or so ago. Here's a rough youtube vid

This song because I had to choose the songs for my Nan's funeral last year, and this was the song we walked out to - I also had to be the first to walk out of the place....haven't listened to it since without tears.

Because it's just frigging beautiful. And just one man and a guitar. Adele? [Poor language removed]. This is true talent.

Because it was the last song recorded by my favourite band. But mainly because the lyrics have an unfortunate poignancy, with what was to come next.

It's a great song, but the haunting harmonies and the subject matter give it a heart-wrenching, melancholy vibe.

Ok not a song as such, but ever since watching Platoon Samuel Barber's Adagio for strings does it for me

I remember seeing footage of 9/11 not long after it happened when the people were jumping out of the windows of the tower to get away from the fire with that playing as background music and I found myself just sobbing uncontrollably. Killed me.

Just listened and yep, they still work xx

As much as I like Adele I have to agree with you with regards to this man, although I find Thinking About you and No Surprises sadder

Both great sad songs, but I picked that because of the pure rawness, and down the the bare bones bareness of it.

Their saddest, without a doubt, for me, is:

That song pulls on my heartstrings so much it's emasculating! They used it during a particularly brilliant scene in "Six Feet Under" and my eyes were welling up.

I believe I said in another thread I'd have this song played at my funeral, if not for the irony. It is, without a doubt, my favourite sad song.

Leave Adele alone you bully!

Hehe. I was just making a point, mate. ;)

9 crimes by Damien Rice

Evokes some sad memories for me - brings a tear or two, every time I hear it.
