Has anyone ever blown off an important meeting at work to go to a game knowing full well that everyone knows that’s where you’ve gone?

Don’t get me wrong I’d love THEM to lose Commons votes because of it, but isn’t such a gross dereliction of duty a bit off?

Unfortunately he’s my local MP! Until about 18 months ago he was a hard working, up and coming Tory local councillor a few miles up the road. Then he became an MSP in Edinburgh via the proportional representation system and this year he got his Westminster seat . He’s always been well known locally for his referee exploits including missing votes at Holyrood because of it. He was trotted out a few times for the cameras in his first few weeks , you know the stuff , views from the new intake , he just towed the party line. Got into trouble a couple of months ago with remarks about his biggest priority if he became PM would be travellers, today increases the odds on him achieving that though. Sadly no chance of him resigning and us having a by election.

It's entirely down to the party if they really wanted him there for the vote and they'll likely not be throwing a three line whip around given the likelihood of a rebellion.

And if his constituents are disappointed then I'm glad - the utter tories.... @blueloon excepted....I hope
