Putting my neck on the line here because this thread could come back to haunt me, but for £27m... I think thats an awful signing.

I watch La Liga quite often and every time I have seen Torres play, he's looked decent, but not as good as £27m. I don't think he'll be half as good in the Prem. To be blunt, he's a big pansy.

Opinions?

Drogba for 24 mill, didnt look anything like in his first season, but since then his goals and the brilliance of some of those goals (diving header for one) have started to make him look worth the money, espcially in a league that has seen 25 mill for veron, 27 mill for ferdinand, 30 mill shevchenko.

I havnt seen enough of torres to cast proper judgement, will it mean deR Schiesse will play two upfront all season? hopefully.

Danny, if that comes back to haunt you then it will haunt me as well. The Onion will again pay well over the odds for average to mediocre players. Torres is a decent forward but no more than that and he is never worth that sum. I can envisage the Onion in post match conferences coming up with excuse after excuse for this guy.(y)

He's a good player. Thats not in doubt.

But I used to like watching Morientes and he was super poo when he played for the [Poor language removed].

27 million is a big, big gamble. Hope it doesnt pay off.

I havn't seen anything to suggest he's worth that much money. Lets see, Henry for £16m or Torres for £27m? Benithez has let his love of all things Spanish cloud his judgement on this one and I can't see him being any better than Kuyt, who lest we forget was the next big thing last season.

but suits, drogba was [Poor language removed] hot for his previous teams and in the CL too, I remember him before he moved to chelsea, he had it all, strength, speed, height, superb finisher.

But didnt turn that on in his first season.

I think we all agree - at 27 million, not even Chelsea would buy him. It's absurd. I see they will liley ship Luis Garcia as part payment - that's good, he seems to have a knack of hurting us even though he's a piece of %^*&%.

not the worst record ever, but not a nailed on £27m player either, especially as he's untried in the prem.

Ithink he's at least £15m overpriced.

15 at the most, due to him being the best player at a.madrid and the captain, his price tag has been pushed up tbh.

at 90k per week, they'll have spunked £32M on him before they realise he's just as bad as Kuyt [crosses fingers] b)

Kidding aside, I think Kuyt is better than Torres. I suspect Kuyt will do well this year, specially if they offload Crouch (man I hope he stays there).
