any of the London games when you arrived on a service train, heading into the underground was unnerving as there was always little pockets hanging around, the hike to spurs down that long road you had to have your wits about you.

Surprised Filbert St hasn't been mentioned, a lad I know got jumped behind the rugby ground and his teeth stamped out, a load of 'The Baby Squad' got sent down for it and the following year they were all out for revenge, the fact it was a winter game & dark after the game finished made it a nervy journey back to the coaches & station.

Not much has changed. One seriously dodgy part of London. The knob headed sp*rs fans weren't your only worries .

Chelsea not as bad now but was terrible.
Cardiff.

Man Utd - FA Cup 6th round 1983 - I was 13 and with my Dad- had tickets in the United Paddock - left promptly when Stapleton scored was spat on and called scouse b'tard ny middle aged women and men.

Milk Cup Final Replay v Liverpool 1984 - Maine Rd - 50k scouse's - bedlam everywhere - all but three windows put through on our coach leaving Moss Side.

Leeds - FA Cup 3rd round 1985 - First away proper with my mates on Eavesway Coaches - blues firing a flare gun - getting bricked from the overpass to where the coach parked - running battles everywhere.

Villa - Milk Cup Semi- Final 1984 - Police escort getting abushed - being next to Villa fans and it going off all around.

Southampton - FA Cup Semi Final 1984 - Full on pitch invasion from the North Bank happily celebrating next minute, full scale riot.

As a neutral I've been to an Old Firm game which was tasty- but the Bristol derby is something else.
That cup replay up at Boro in 1988?Tricky equalising at the death, got a bit "tasty" as they saylol

My own take on away grounds during the bad old days, some might have different views but this is my personal experience of them
LONDON
West Ham was always dodgy, never took big numbers there and the police seemed very reluctant to offer protection, they never showed up at Goodison in any great numbers except for a couple of games, which ended badly for them
CHELSEA- Again could be a bad place, they done us twice at games I went to,the season they got relegated and at Kensington high, dont believe the bull of them saying women and children off the train, they hit everyone that day,
SPURS- Strange club to visit, hell of a hike but never had any real bother there, they seemed to save that for the RS
ARSENAL- Again dont remember any real trouble except the game before they played the RS in a cup final and our coach parked the wrong place
MILLWALL- For all the hype surrounding the game very little happened, was more aggro with Villa before the game
MANCHESTER- Always risky,City I disliked visiting more due to all the side streets and alleyways,United aways had huge numbers out
MIDLANDS- Always seen these as more bring your kid brother games,Stoke 10 years too late to the party,Derby were game but never had the numbers to do anything and all the boarded up houses gave the wrong impression,Wolves on the day could be fun,Villa again seemed to save it for the RS
NORTH/NE- Leeds used to be ab ordeal wherher by coach or train, and everyone was a target,Newcastle had trouble there twice,Sunderland never really seen anything,Boro a nightmare always bother
I found the worse places were the smaller clubs,Bristol City,Barnsley,Oldham all those types of games

Anyone remember going to Middlesborough's old gaff, with the ICI chemical plant next door?

What a pen and ink, worst than analfield, and that's saying something.
