I am astonished to see the list populated by chain restaurants!!!!!

They are all right for a quickie, or if you are in a group, but there are many better, cheaper alternatives everywhere.

Hooters isn't even anygood.....their food is rubbish and all you get is a bit of cleavage and a girl flirting in the hope of a big tip. Meh.

If you're going out to eat in the States, don't go to a chain restaurant! Seriously you can find a million great restaurants in every city.

We've got a ton of them here in St. Louis...there's a neighborhood here called "The Hill" which is the historically Italian neighborhood...you can't walk 200 yards in any direction without running into a restaurant that blows anything else you've had away.

What's the first restaurant you're going to take me to when I vist St Louis?

seriously, if any of you visit the States and eat at those places, you are missing out.

lamb is not terribly big here, mostly going to be found in Mediterranean cuisine here.

if any of you lot visit Atlanta, ask me for recommendations

my experiences are limited to Texas, Louisiana and SF, favourites would be:

Goode Seafood Company (Houston)
Guiness and Oyster place on Bourbon Street (the famous one)
free buffet at the Men's Club circa early 90's :)
