I dunno about others but for me one of my favourite things about going to the US is the chance to eat out at ace restaurants for not too much all the time, so to cut to the chase those of you who visit the US or live there, what are your top 3 eateries ? Mine would be:

3. Chili's

2. Outback Steakhouse

1. Hooters or Smokey Bones.

There's plenty more like but these are the 4 that spring to mind.

When i was in the states, i went to a steakhouse and had the best steak ive ever eaten, i also enjoyed a wendy burger!!

Ahh yes Wendy's better than McDonald's and Burger King in every way, needs to be introduced in the UK and maybe I will do fast food every now and again.

For me:

A decent steakhouse - Taste of Texas (Houston) and Abe & Louie's (Boston) are amongst the best I've ever had. I was at Flemmings last night which is supposed to be a top notch steakhouse - but I didn't think too much of it. Also Del Frisco's is good - but vastly overpriced.

American Diners - went to one just off of Union Square (San Francisco) and had the best Malt I've ever had in my life. 59 Diner (Houston) is not bad but I prefer local ones, not chains. Kelley's Country Kitchen is cheap and food is plentiful - their Chicken Fried Steak is amazing.

BBQ - Texas prides itself on it's BBQ and I'm fortunate enough to live close to one of the best I've ever had - The Swinging Door (Fulshear) is amazing. Although I was on a Stag Do is Kansas City, Missouri and tucked into some Lamb Ribs for the first time ever - simply phenomenal!

I tried lamb in the states and it was the worse i've ever had, certainly wasn't Welsh or the Superior New Zealand stuff. Is Lamb not big in the states or sometghing for you to have never tried a lamb rack ? what was on them btw? I'm fearing what you could reply with here i'll be honest as it could be sacrilege.

If you're going out to eat in the States, don't go to a chain restaurant! Seriously you can find a million great restaurants in every city.

We've got a ton of them here in St. Louis...there's a neighborhood here called "The Hill" which is the historically Italian neighborhood...you can't walk 200 yards in any direction without running into a restaurant that blows anything else you've had away.
