Only 3 ?

The Beatles

Love (with the legend that was Arthur Lee)

Hendrix/Velvet Underground -= can't separate them for the influence they both had on future musicians

On the bench - The Who, Neil Young/Crazy Horse, Steely Dan, Little Feat, Alex Harvey Band, Beach boys

Daisy was alright but it felt like they were trying to hard to do something different. Deja for me. Id take any Thrice album over and Brand New though.

 Maybe not Identity Crisis and Illusion of Safety for me... but yeeah in general:

Thrice > Brand New, actually;

Thrice > The Universe

Oh and another thing getting the list down to 3 is very hard and it feels like you are killing your own kids leaving some out, so bubbling under the 3 would be:-

Flaming Lips
Mercury Rev
Grandaddy
James
Black Keys
Arctic Monkeys
Clash
and of course The Beatles

I've highlighted the Cocteau Twins section of your post, but just to say that I was brought up with Robin (lived about 800yards from me) and Liz (lived about a mile from me). I was also introduced to Simon Raymonde (who took over from Will Heggie on bass) later in there career. Simons girlfriend is a big Everton fan, though not sure if he is.
Will Heggie is also a good friend of mine and a very decent centre half. (y)

Simon's a Spurs supporter...I would imagine his wife (girlfriend?) supports Everton as her brother, Stu, was on an old mailing list of mine.

I like them first 3 albums especially but they are nowhere near some of the fantastic bands this country produced in the 60's and 70's

Personally I think they peaked with their first album. Morning Glory is great but a little less raw, while even Noel has said that Be Here Now was nowhere near what it should have been.

Good band for a few years, but from my favourite albums from that era were Verve's Urban Hymns and Radiohead's The Bends.
