According to Tom Morello, Tool’s long-anticipated new album will be well worth the wait.

The Rage Against the Machine guitarist jumped on Instagram yesterday (Dec. 11) to share a photo snapped in the recording studio with three members of Tool (singer Maynard James Keenan was nowhere in sight).

More importantly, Morello revealed that Tool was nice enough to play him some of the new music that they’ve been working on.

“Had the honor of being the first outsider to hear new Tool music today!!,” Morello shared. “Still just instrumentals but sounded epic, majestic, symphonic, brutal, beautiful, tribal, mysterious, deep, sexy and VERY Tool. Really great. So excited to hear the record when it’s finished.”

There is still no indication when fans can expect to get their first dose of new Tool music, but from the looks of things, it is actually in the works.

I've waited for so long it's no longer even exciting tbh. It'll probably be good but... meh.

Loved Tool when I was younger. I’ve seen them 4 times now, first time was back at London Astoria in 97.

Can’t really listen to metal/alternative anymore though, makes me cringe a bit. I’ll still check out the LP though when it eventually drops.

Danny Carey will always be the best thing about Tool.

Well they aren’t really mainstream and get no radio play (at least in UK) but at same time are one of the most critically acclaimed rock groups of past 20 odd years and have a cult fanbase that even the likes of Radiohead, Aphex Twin etc would be proud of. Their last three albums all went to number 1 in the US as well.

..yep, listened to 46&2. Sounds ok but “i’ve been picking my scabs again’ aren’t the best lyrics ever written. That song reminds me of something else that I can’t think of at the moment. Anyway, i don’t think they’ll be joining your namesake on my I-pod.
