I grew up with Tony Thomas , couldn't even get in East Villa or Roma FC , back in 1986 we all went for trials with Marine AFC , he was the only 1 who didn't get in . Without doubt the worst right back in Everton's history. And that's official

...I know him reasonably well, lot younger than me but I also played against him and he was physically very strong. I think it was that strength that saw him breakthrough at Tranmere and get his move to Everton.

Couldnt we add Earl "kick the ball out of play under no pressure" Barrett to the list.

I cant believe he won England caps....and Royle signed him...lucky he was cup tied and Matt Jackson played in our FA Cup winning run.

You from Norris green then ,?off stalisfield were Tony was from , don't get me wrong he's a good lad . But I know him very well , and when we all played together there were far better players i.e. John Mcgreal , Billy Parry , Tony Abrahams than Tony , yes he did have a good engine but that was all he had really . I heard he's on the taxis , thought Tranmere would have had a role for him .

Christ, I'd almost forgotten about TT, he was poor for Tranmere, god knows why we signed him.
Was it him who ended up in court a few years ago accused of money laundering or something ?

Can't remember off-hand if he was found guilty or not. i may even have dreamed it.
Your correct, was for laundering and got off with it . On the cabs last I heard , which is a shame he's a good lad Tony .

...I'm not from Noggsy but I know local footy in that area very well. I remember Billy Parry and the other names are familiar. All a bit younger than me but East Villa (Wayne Rooney et al) and Roma are a credit to the lads who run them from the 'Oak', and it was sad when the Western folded. Some very, very good footballers from those teams.

Just to add, Tony was doing some work for Optra, taking stats at matches but he might be on cabs now.

The best player from around there who went on to play for villa reserves and stoke was Johno ,was the fastest thing I seen . Had all the best boots Puma Step star , Le Coq Sportif , him and jimmy carrbarry were class .
