Player Valuation: £90m
almeria 0 - 4 barcelona

35 minutes gone

may well end up 0-10

edit: 0-5, 36 minutes... Messi's 100th league goal

Messi gets a hattrick for Barca. Ronaldo gets a hattrick for Real.

Amazing.

In terms of individual, world-class talent, their league outshines ours by a big, big margin.

True. Very true.

But in terms of actual good teams ours is way better. Anyone can beat anyone in our league, not so there.

In terms of money, appeal, entertainment etc, the EPL wins every time. It's the biggest league in the world.

But most of the talent's in Spain now, it has to be said. The two best players in the world right now -- by some margin -- are there, and they're not going anywhere soon.

Yep definitely. But even West Ham would have beaten Almeria tonight!

Odd games though - almeria were awful, but athletic played really well up unti di maria's dive gave them the penalty that made it 3-1.

also whilst ronaldo did get 3, he really should remember this game for his laughable late dive-and-sulk in the first half.

edit: Almeria's lillo sacked as well, not unreasonably

Messi is unbelievable, he is light years beyond Ronaldo and shouldn't ever be compared to anyone else either, because it's insulting to the man.

I can see either messi or ronaldo doing what Lebron did at the Cavs, and both joining the same team once their contracts expire

He's a much better character, at least. Ronaldo's close in terms of individual talent, but Messi edges that, and he's a much better team player too. He helps the team more, and assists more.

EDIT:

Messi's record this season is just mental:

La Liga:

Apps - 10, Goals - 13, Assists - 6

All competitions:

Apps - 17, Goals - 22, Assists - 9

More than a goal a game... that's just out of this world.

Ronaldo's is pretty ace too, mind, but not quite as good (still eclipses anything here):

La Liga:

Apps - 12, Goals - 14, Assists - 5

All Competitions:

Apps - 18, Goals - 16, Assists - 6

If he stays fit (which might not be as easy as it sounds, one imagines Mou will have someone on him all the time during the Clasico and people must surely have noticed that he either scores or sets up nearly 2/3 of Barcelona's goals this season, and its not as if you can stop him using fair means) and keeps this up, then he is on course for 60+ goals this season.

He is 23 years old.
