Tom Watson Labour MP Opens another can of worms!

There have been rumours about this for a while, it's almost impossible to even comprehend how somebody close to a PM could get away with this kind of thing.

I think the Jimmy Saville case shows that if people don't want to look where there's a problem then they believe they don't have to. I think the openness to Hillsborough has got a lot of people worried and fair play to the government, it looks like stones which are being turned are being looked under.

People who have ignored a problem in the past are getting there judgement questioned now and there are a few sqweeky bums out there.

I think the horrific truth is that it is no longer impossible to comprehend such things - the culture of covering up has been endemic to the ruling classes for hundreds of years, something which was always suspected but increasingly now is proven to be true and at a level much greater than previously thought or feared.

It is not too far fetched to say that the whole basis of rule and privilege and the abuse of that inherent power is beginning to be questioned to the extent that one can hardly ascertain what is and has been the truth over many years.

I'm guessing the whole public fall out between news international, the police, the government (past and present) and the rest of 'the establishment', has opened up a huge can of worms that we are only seeing the beginning of.

I caught the tail end of that question when I was flicking radio stations at lunchtime. Couldn't believe what I was hearing.

Also can't believe it's not been the lead news item throughout the day. I haven't heard it since.

I don't know who sets the news agenda in this country but I'm a little concerned about the attitudes of establishment institutions like the BBC, houses of parliament, Police (Loads of child exploitation cases in the north they just ignored) etc towards child abuse..

Messed up really.

Do more time if you disrupt the toffs boat race.

I think the media are cautious about reporting allegations made under parliamentary privilege without any evidence (well, no evidence provided as of yet) - if reported alongside the Savile stories it could give the wrong impression.

Despite being a [Poor language removed], Tom Watson is good at this kind of thing, so it'll definitely come out soon.

It's very horrible to know that possibly lots of people have gotten away with some terrible criminal acts and who are in high offices of trust.

God knows how many victims have suffered.

It reminds me of when allegations of abuse was been found to exist in the Catholic Church of Ireland and elsewhere.

I used to think the criminal checks were a bother and too much of a hassle but now I believe otherwise.

As davek said in another thread, it'll be interesting to see if the royals are caught up in this too...

I read this too.. This would never get out surely ?

And what I would love to ask.. is why this wasnt picked up with the phone hacking ? Or was it ?

i think davek might of predicted this to happen after the news international thing. he said there was some kinda pact between police and MPs and the press and someone else. (establishment maybe) it now broken and all hell will break loose.

When Davek came out with some conspiracy theory like this yesterday I was thinking "jeez Dave that's a stretch even coming from someone like yourself" but he could have hit the nail on the head like, fair play.
