Anyone know the best way to listen to Everton games on the radio while out and about; phone apps mainly

My mum and dad are crazy blues but a little old to be going the game nowadays, but they still love to listen to the games. They're not super tech-savvy but they both have smart phones so I thought I could download apps for them to listen to while they're both out and about.

This used to be straightforward but I'm not sure if there's an issue with radio merseyside not broadcasting the games live anymore as my dad reckons the matches just go off as soon as the kick off starts now.

Any help would be greatly appreciated for a couple of OAP blues who've given me everything throughout my life xx

Thanks

Yes, you can absolutely listen to BBC Radio Merseyside on your smartphone using the free BBC Sounds app, their website (bbc.co.uk/radiomerseyside), or third-party radio apps, by streaming live or catching up on podcasts and shows, using your Wi-Fi or mobile data.

Saturday meant we got Unsworth and some undertaker on BBC Radio Lancashire because Merseyside were covering someone else (they play at anfield). Occasionally we get an exclusive live broadcast on 5live or similar.

I listen through my TV (The radio stations via freeview in the highest channels). I suppose I could listen through their web app.

I have a word of concern, are they the animated type? I only ask because I'm picturing a couple of pensioners waiting in line at the butchers punching the air and dancing a little boogie as Tarkowski slams us level with the last kick. I also note this situation often cuts the other way more often than not. Saturday for instance was so grim. I had half an hour of the second half awol.

thanks Rites, I'll try BBC Sounds. And yes, they're spritely, but the they're well in with the butcher so should be fine.

I'm pretty sure that you wil still have the same problems using the BBC sounds app.

It's something to do with Premier League internet streaming rights as opposed to radio broadcast rights. The Freeview feed is just a normal radio broadcast so it will provide the match commentary.

The only way that I know to listen to match commentaries online is through the official Everton website. It used to be free but from this season you have to buy a membership.

If anyone knows of another way I too would be interested!

Just had a poke around on BBC Sounds app and I think you're right. All the sportsday stuff indicates they have everything "right until kick-off", commentaries are available but I guess they become so after the event.

Listening to radio commentary on the Everton app (but you need membership)
Or the Livescore app have often commentary of premier league games but never listened to it to be honest

Used to be Everton app but stuff getting a membership just for that. I usually just type into google Everton v (Opponent) radio and there has been a few to listen to. Was via talksport last time I think.
