Howard kendall speaks to sky sports.Dont know if you'v seen it this morning but he's full of praise for the gaffer an the boys. Nice to hear are most famos manager, fully beliving this team will do somthing.

Howard Kendall believes Everton are on the verge of recreating the glory days of the 1980s when he was manager.

Kendall led the Toffees to two league titles during his first spell in charge, and he returned to the club in the 1990s to rescue them from relegation.

David Moyes' current crop may not yet be serious title contenders, but they are pushing city rivals Liverpool for fourth spot, remain in the UEFA Cup and next week host Chelsea in the second leg of a Carling Cup semi-final.

The Merseysiders will have to overturn a 2-1 deficit if they are to reach Wembley, but Kendall told Sky Sports News: "I honestly believe they will go through.

"At Goodison Park now there's an atmosphere where the fans believe something is going to happen.

"They're right behind the side, and the team go out there and believe that they're going to win every game.

"The UEFA Cup is a possibility and, while the FA Cup was a disaster, I did fancy them for a cup. They can finish very high up the league also.

"They've got strength in depth, which they didn't have when David Moyes first took over, and he has players who are versatile.

"I think he's got a strong squad of players who can go and do something this season."

I'm just glad we're making steady progress. I mean, it wasn't so long ago that we were battling relegation every season, so I'm not expecting any trophies just yet, just glad those days are behind us.

As for finishing 4th, we've shown that we can do it, and we're a better side than we were that season, but the teams around us are also better themselves so we shall have to wait and see. Portsmouth have improved, as have Villa and of course Man City, I'd say they're the teams that can challenge (although personally I think Villa and Portsmouth will fall away), so it's there for the taking. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed.

I agree with what HK is saying though, there is more of a sense of belief about the club, and I don't know about you but I'm [Poor language removed] made up, I used to hate going the match and hoping we scrape a win, then checking the other scores to see if we'd dropped/moved up any places in the league. Good riddance to those days.

Pompey have already given us a brief glimpse of what to expect from them from the current month. They are going to lose ground to ourselves, City and Villa while the ANC is going on. Hopefully the gap at the end of it will be sufficent that they will be out of the battle with us.

The team that are worrying me, Aston Villa. City don't travel well and won't improve in that respect until at least the spring and as somebody alluded to earlier, Sven is still Sven (ie tactically clueless).

Villa at least have a sound manager and some very decent players that are playing for the team and performing well. They are our main rivals for the battle for 4th.
