Today's Downtime

Unfortunately and most frustratingly, GrandOldTeam was inaccessible from 16:20 until 19:40 today.

We're still awaiting reasoning, but clearly, whatever it is, it's not good enough. I'll let you all know why the site crashed, and what we/our current host (or new host) will be doing to ensure we don't endure such shoddy service again.

Traffic wasn't anything out the ordinary, we've not had a GOT meltdown for some time and it's not something we should be expecting these days. Thoroughly annoyed with today.

Now that I look back in that thread, I wonder if that's what caused it...lot of posts in just a min and a few. Maybe the server thought it was being attacked...dunno if we've ever hit it that hard.

This is completely 2+2=5 stuff, but I noticed that the host say they have lots of forums like ours on their books. If they do have a few football forums then this could have been a busy day for them.

Of course, that makes sense more if we're on a shared server, which I'm assuming given traffic levels that we're not.
