For a man who wanted to win the league with (assuming) boyhood club, quite quick to step over them to make it all liverpool like in his celebration? Perhaps i am talking out my arse here but i would imagine Feynord have never sung that song before so why sing it there?

I'm afraid that once that hideous cult gets inside the brain, then they're a lost, lost cause.

One would hope that most Feyenoord fans will surely recognise that they really need to engender their own identity rather than latching leech-like onto that of another club and especially THAT other club ??

I can, as Liverpool are a very liked team for no reason whatsoever and viewed as successful and big everywhere in Europe that isn't... well, Liverpool/Manchester really.

In fact, I can fully imagine they won't have that negative spin, even if they do.

As a side note - Feyenoord have used the dirge before - way back - so it's nothing new. Loads of German teams use it, but if we hate teams based on that - we've got to hate BVB, Mainz, Kaiserslautern (IIRC) and so on, as well as some Finnish teams and probably LOADS more.

Put me right off a trip to see Dortmund when I saw they sing that song. Have zero interest in willingly being subjected to that dirge, even less if a whole bloody stadium are going to be singing it

In fairness though.. if you like the song it's a much better effort than the pathetic half-hearted groan at The Pit.

I was always a Celtic fan but my love affair with them ended on the occasion of that sickening UEFA Cup love in a decade or so back
