got a word for one running on the 12th or 13th, its ready to go

I did not follow this one up because the word was, it didnt have a chance,.
And it came last.

Will update once the owners let me know its getting better in training.

See this has fell down the list a bit, I got my NH books in the post this morning, Racing Post Jumps Guide 2012-13, RFO Jumps guide and Mark Howards 'One Jump Ahead'. I have been having a good read of them all and hope to have a profitable jumps season. All cracking reads but the latter seems to be exactly what it says on the tin. For example, RFO gives West End Rocker a quote for the National and Howard delivers confirmation from his trainer that the race will be "out of the question".

Anyone can post that Big Bucks and Sprinter Sacre will be horse to watch, but I think there are a couple of interesting ones to keep an eye on,

Maktu has been absent for a while but has been moved to David Pipe's yard. One to watch in staying handicaps.
Time For Rupert would be interesting for the Hennessy with his chasing mark.
Last Instalment could win a big race maybe even a Gold Cup if he stays injury free and he gets soft ground.

Nitrogen is going to be running for Paul Nicholls this year having moved to rules from point-to-point action and I will probably back him each race he runs. As a half brother to Best Mate he has pedigree on his side too.

Horses like Roudoudouville and Imperial Commander are also coming back from injury and I expect the latter could be aimed for the National should he stay fit. I'd also be backing Ile de Re from the McCain yard over hurdles too, his handicap mark is very enticing indeed, again particularly a fan of soft ground.

May well have a few more thoughts as the season goes on. Got my tickets for Aintree next year already, they go quicker year by year!

Don't even get me started on West End Rocker. Backed him last year when ALL signs pointed to him running a cracker. Only went and fell at the second.

Decent races on tomorrow at Newcastle, definitely going to have a punt on the early ones pre work.

I told a mate to back him on the Tuesday when it was chucking it down with rain. The ground had stiffened a bit by the time the race come round but he is a royal bottler on the big occasion.

I backed Ballabriggs and Shakalakaboomboom last year. They will probably be aimed for that race again but their chances will be dependent on what sort of weight they will be asked to carry and it might actually help those sorts if a few more top class horses are attracted to the race which is starting to be the case in more recent years, not many running out of the handicap these days.

Anyone taking Aintree in this afternoon?

The one noone is talking about in the Old Roan chase is Wishfull Thinking. It closed with a respectable second to Finian's Rainbow in last years Melling Chase after a shockingly below par season. Its giving some weight to other horses but mainly because it is proved quality at the end of the day. The horse on its day is a class act and if it runs to its potential it could have the measure of everything here. Bet365 are still offering 8/1 which is more than most.

Often think the effect of weight is overstated given these horses already weigh a ton, why should a few pounds make a huge difference?

Have to fancy Van der Neer for the RP Trophy at Doncaster. Unlike Kingsbarns which won a nothing race at Navan, this one has two from two and last time at Leicester when winning the horse that came fourth (Fat Gary) placed at Doncaster behind Ronaldinho. Its wins have been on both soft ground and on good to firm. The 11/2 on offer from Bet365 is decent value but needs to be snapped up quickly. Kingsbarns might suddenly click and win by a margin but he's too much of an unknown to be taking around the 9/4-5/2 mark for me.

Wishfull Thinking second too, beaten by a very impressive winner in For Non Stop, that looks one to watch for the season but of course getting a price on him now will be tricky.

Handy each way double there, 5/1 and 9/1 at SP.

Not a horse but can't find a similar thread for football.

Chelsea are currently Evens to beat United. Considering Chelsea have a host of first teamers and United are basically playing their reserves this is an excellent price.

Nani, Wellbeck, Hernandez ?? No mugs like !
The 'to score in 90 mins' market may be worth a look ??

(Utds defence looks very weak though..)
