Timmy Cahill to be the new Scholesy? *Warning this title contains exaggeration*

He's been called up to the Oz squad. He loves his country but it might be time for him to stand down, his previous outings have made him injured and fatigued which really affected his fitness and performances for us.

Should have sold Cahill back in 2006 when we was spouting off about wanting to play for Liverpool when he was growing up, disgrace to our club.

Some of the anti-Cahill nonsense on this board is really worrying. Show some respect will you? We all know he's not the same player he once was, which is precisely why he's starting to not be as nailed on in the starting XI as he used to be, but to completely turn your back on the man is pathetic. He's been a credit to the club throughout his time here and will go down in history as a legend.

Cahill is possibly on too high a wage to be an impact sub in what is a cash strapped mid table team. He's probably on about £50/60k a week, a similar wage to what Pienaar would be on if we retained him. Does Cahill deserve to be paid the same as Pienaar? Personally I don't think so.

Pienaar deserves to be on double what Cahill is on in my opinion. I love the guy and he'll never be forgotten, but he shouldn't be kept in the team for sentimental value, we just can't afford it. Wouldn't it be best for him to move on while he's still got something to offer another team?

I'd defo have a tear in my eye if Timmy left though. Everton legend.

I agree. What I don't agree with is how certain other individuals go about expressing their thoughts on Tim around these parts. He deserves alot more respect than that. It's not being sentimental, it's about being a decent human and showing some respect.

I think he'd rather take a pay-cut than leave the club. I genuinely believe he'd do that for the club if they asked him to in order to fund a Pienaar contract, etc.

THIS!

We all know he isnt what he used to be but the anti-cahill stuff is ridiculous... someone in a previous post said he 'cant jump' anymore....thats just plain daft! He has got us out of a lot of holes in the past, scored most goals under moyes, most goals under the ****e, must have scored at most premier league grounds ()certainly the top ones). I hope he gives us one more year - who knows, we might be pleasantly suprised with tim next year - especially with jelavic here.
