So it would seen evident that the days of seeing our man Timmy scoring freely in the premier league are over. This is a given and probably needs no more comment on as a subject alone.
I just cant help but think however that this isnt the end full stop for our Cabaye Strangling, Ball-boy saving hero. Remember when the goals dried up for Scholes? He willingly adjusted his game to one more of intelligence, using his passing and dictation of play. Now please my fellow blues, hear me out.. I am NOT saying that Tim Cahill has the ability to do what Scholes does as he doesnt have half the natural footballing ability. But rather than the scrap heap, could our Timmy give us the steal along with Gibbo in midfield to allow Fellaini to continue to dictate games?
I know there is a massive fear about what Moyes's comments last week meant when he discussed the need this summer to 'trade' players. I think he was talking more of Anichebe & Rodwell. Anichebe will get us a few million quid because of his physique and the fact hes got more than a year left on his contract. He has surely now done a Vaughan and proven that he cannot get fit long enough to realise his true potential. Hes a typical 'Stoke' player (no offence intended).
The same I feel for Rodwell. There seemed to be an air of frustration with Moyes regarding Rodders ongoing hamstring problems when discussing it in the media. Almost both, 'Im p*ssed off hes not in my team'' but also 'im getting p*ssed off hes always injured'. This summer potentially could see him joining 'Arry at spurs. Hes the new Jermaine Jenas - everyone thought he was ace apart from those who actually saw him week in week out. I think also, like Saha has proven, sometimes players need a fresh start. JUST because hes english I could see us getting £8-10 million for him.
Moyes mentioned that with the Bily sale being £5 million ' it proves we dont need an awful lot money to be successful in the market'. I think again this shows hes not thinking one of the best players.
Those two sales above alone wouldntb) massively damage our squad and would give us the 'starter' money for a (early) summer shopping dash.
So, in a stab at true journalistic relevance, allow my post to come full circle. With Moyes looking for a plug in centre-midfield as our Nev surely cant take too many games in the engine room, I can see Cahill being employed in that sort of role. After all, Nev has proven it isnt purely footballing ability which can (moderately) succeed at centre-midfield, but also tenacity, resiliance and leadership - all of which are abilities Timmy possess in abundance.
Discuss (please :-D)
